Suggested Activity is to see if the sample matches the sampling goal of the researcher. Before conducting the Chi-Square analysis, create a new variable for age that has 4 categories. The categories should be 18-20, 21-22, 23-24, and 25 and older. Use Chi-Square to test each of the following goals for the sample.

  1. The goal for gender is 60% females and 40% males. At the 95% confidence level, does the sample meet the researcher’s goal for gender? Support your answer.
  2. For family income the goal is 60% for $0-2499, 20% for $25,000-49,999, and 20% for $50,000 or more. At the 95% confidence level, does the sample meet this goal? Support your answer.
  3. For race, the researcher’s goal was 60% Caucasian, 20% African-American, and 20% other. At the 95% confidence level, does the sample meet this goal? Support your answer.
  4. Use the new variable you created for age. The researcher’s goal was for the four categories to be equal. At the 95% confidence level, does the sample meet this goal? Support your answer.
